Course Talk: Brexit - How to Manage Imports and Exports in 2021

Posted on 15 September 2020SharePrint

We have just delivered the first presentation of an online course that will help businesses to prepare for the new trading environment that will come into effect from 1st January 2021 for those companies moving goods between the UK and the EU. It was presented by Kevin Guy, who has been presenting international VAT courses for UK Training for more than 20 years.

Who attended the course?

More than 40 people attended the session, mostly in financial roles, from a wide variety of industry sectors including accounting, financial services, retail, engineering, wholesale, publishing, software and manufacturing.

The process of logging on to the course was very straightforward. A link from an email took participants to a web page where they could enter the virtual training room and enjoy the training without leaving home. The sound was crystal clear, the visuals easy to follow and there were plenty of opportunities to ask questions or make comments through the on-screen tools that helped make the experience interactive.

During the course...

Kevin explained how the trading relationship between the United Kingdom and the EU will change and what businesses in Great Britain and Northern Ireland will need to do to comply with the new customs and VAT regime. This included how to make customs declarations, getting an EORI number, import/export procedures with the EU and how VAT will be applied in future.

There were many questions from the audience, which Kevin managed with confidence. Delegates wanted to know more details about EORI numbers and when they are needed, how useful is postponed VAT accounting and how to use deferred customs declarations. Some delegates were very concerned about using agents or intermediaries and having a registered office in another EU country.

What did delegates say?

The feedback from delegates was very good, comments included: “The course was very interesting and helpful. It was packed with information.” , and “I found the course really easy to follow.”

The first presentation of this course was sold out and further presentations are either sold out or filling up fast. Please visit this page to guarantee your place before the trading laws change on 1st January 2021.
